Druk Condensed

Commercial Type publishes Druk Condensed, designed by Berton Hasebe and first drawn in 2011 for the Year in Review issue of Bloomberg Businessweek. The Druk collection was conceived as a study in extremes, deliberately skipping normal widths and lighter weights, and Condensed is its narrowest end: Super, X Super and XX Super weights with flat sides that lock letters into solid vertical blocks. Hasebe calls it the most explicit homage to Willy Fleckhaus in the family, and he kept terminals and crossbars from aligning too often so headlines never turn monotonous. These free condensed grotesques work the same poster register without the license fee.
