Mrs Saint Delafield
A free alternative to Edwardian Script.
About Mrs Saint Delafield
Mrs Saint Delafield is Alejandro Paul's pointed-pen script, revived in 2011 from a Charles Bluemlein lettering specimen — steeply slanted, extravagantly capitalized, and almost entirely hairline. Its strokes run long past the baseline, and the capitals behave less like letters than like small flourish drawings.
That lively, ornamental line makes it the closest free match in spirit for Edwardian Script, which shares the same slant and flourish vocabulary. It also gets nearest to Zapfino's whip-thin, airy quality, where the appeal is the stretch of the stroke rather than any weight on the page. And at the delicate end of the copperplate spectrum it substitutes for Vivaldi in settings where ornament matters more than presence. Give it generous line spacing — the flourishes need somewhere to go.

Mrs Saint Delafield is also a free alternative to…
- Edwardian Script → The closest match in spirit — a steeply slanted pointed-pen script with extravagant capitals and lively hairline flourishes, revived from a Charles Bluemlein lettering specimen.
- Vivaldi → All hairline and flourish — the delicate end of the copperplate spectrum, for settings where Vivaldi's ornament matters more than its weight.
- Zapfino → Closest to Zapfino's whip-thin, airy line — long extravagant strokes that stretch well past the baseline and capitals that behave like small flourish drawings.
