Amazing Slab
Zetafonts released Amazing Slab in 2021, designed by Francesco Canovaro and Andrea Tartarelli as the slab-serif development of Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini's Amazing Grotesk. It sits deliberately between two traditions: the low-contrast Egyptian slab and the humanist sans, borrowing the open shapes and curved terminals of the latter. Its four heaviest weights grew out of display letterforms Canovaro drew for the StartupItalia logo, which gives the family its friendly, startup-industry voice. The full family runs to 21 styles including a variable font, each weight with a true italic, covering Latin, Cyrillic and Greek across 211 languages. These free slab serifs work the same warm, rounded Egyptian register without the license fee.
