About PT Sans
PT Sans is a humanist sans by Alexandra Korolkova, published in 2009 and commissioned for Russian government use — a brief that shows in every proportion. The forms run slightly condensed and economical, the counters open and sturdy, the letterfit tight enough to save space without crowding. Narrow and caption styles extend the family into cramped interface settings. It was built to work under pressure rather than to be noticed.
That workmanlike warmth puts it squarely in FF Meta's territory: the same narrow economy, the same durability at small sizes, built for the same kind of demanding public communication. It also comes nearer to Tahoma than any open metric clone manages, and answers Verdana's brief for legibility with clear letter differentiation across signage and screens. Reach for it when interface or wayfinding text has to stay readable in very little space.
