About Literata
Literata is TypeTogether's screen reading serif, commissioned in 2015 as the default face for Google Play Books and built with optical sizes tuned for extended text. The texture is slightly condensed and dependably dark, the serifs substantial, the rhythm steady — a warm, faintly calligraphic editorial serif engineered for people reading thousands of words at a time.
It does for Google Play Books exactly what New York does for Apple Books, which makes the swap unusually direct. It shares Tiempos's robust, screen-optimized body-text personality, and its dark newspaper-like color makes it a natural pick for article copy in the Imperial mold. Choose it when the job is long-form reading on screen rather than display: it is built for the paragraph, not the headline.
