About Cedarville Cursive

Cedarville Cursive is a single-weight handwriting script by Kimberly Geswein, copyrighted in 2010 and released under the SIL Open Font License. It is based on the handwriting of a preschool teacher. Geswein sees the same blend of fun appeal and restrained discipline in the hand that she saw in its owner. Most script fonts lean on large flourishes. This one is a simpler joined cursive, close to authentic daily handwriting: thin, quick strokes, modest loops and a gently uneven rhythm, so it looks written and not engraved.

It works best at display and short-text sizes: notes, signatures, greeting cards, packaging, invitations and pull quotes, anywhere you want a personal handwritten touch without ornate swashes. It can stand in for commercial handwriting scripts such as P22 Cezanne Pro, which is based on Paul Cézanne's handwriting. Cedarville is plainer and has no alternate letterforms, but it gives a similar sense of a real person's pen on paper.

A pairing is a relationship: one voice speaks first, the other answers, and the contrast between them sets the tone for the whole page.
