Alex Brush

Alex Brush is a connecting brush script drawn by Robert Leuschke and released through Google Fonts in 2011, distinguished by short ascenders that keep flowing text compact. The brush influence shows in the stroke — entries and exits taper rather than snapping to a point, and letters join with an easy, hand-drawn rhythm instead of an engineered swell. It reads warm and informal, closer to a fluent hand than to a writing master's exemplar.

Those qualities make it a working substitute for Edwardian Script. Alex Brush covers the same territory — invitations, monograms, packaging, anywhere a connecting script sets the tone — with noticeably less formality than Edwardian's high-contrast pointed-pen flourish. The restrained ascenders are the practical advantage: lines can be set tighter without collisions, so multiple lines of script stay readable at display size.
