Netflix Sans vs Non Sans
Two grotesque sans-serifs from opposite ends of the type market. Netflix Sans is the 2018 brand typeface Netflix built in-house with Dalton Maag to replace Gotham, a face its design lead called an approachable geometric grotesque. Non Sans is Jona Saucedo's 2019 grotesque for Non Foundry, a dense, Swiss-influenced workhorse sold to anyone who wants to license it.

- Netflix Sans is proprietary: Netflix does not sell or license it to the public, so the files on free-download sites are clones and the only honest route to the look is a lookalike.
- Non Sans is a commercial retail family from Non Foundry, with desktop and web licenses priced per style and discounts for full-family and student purchases, so licensing cost is a real line item.
- Netflix Sans pairs cinematic, wide-feeling capitals with compact lowercase proportions, and its signature detail is the arched cut on the lowercase t that echoes the Netflix wordmark.
- Non Sans draws on 1960s Swiss type, and its 2022 revision unified x-heights and widths and tightened spacing specifically for small sizes and low-resolution screens.
- Netflix Sans ships in six upright weights from Thin to Black, while Non Sans covers five weights from Light to Bold, each in Normal, Slant (its italic) and Rotation variants.
Reach for Netflix Sans only if you are designing for Netflix itself; everyone else should look for a free geometric grotesque with the same cinematic caps and compact lowercase.
Reach for Non Sans when you need a neutral, robust grotesque you can actually license for editorial, UI, identity and signage work, and the budget allows a paid family.
