About Noto Serif
Noto Serif is Google's pan-Unicode serif, a dependable transitional design built to hold even color across an enormous range of weights and scripts. There's nothing showy in it: firm serifs, steady rhythm, unglamorous reliability at text sizes. The breadth is the point — it's engineered to keep one typographic voice intact across languages that most families never attempt.
As a free alternative it does Georgia's job with a great deal more reach, which makes it the safe pick for multilingual sites that would otherwise default to Georgia and patch the gaps.
