About Mona Sans
Mona Sans is GitHub's open-source brand sans, drawn with Degarism in 2022 and released through Google Fonts as a variable family with both weight and width axes. It's a neo-grotesque with genuine range: one file covers condensed display settings and comfortable interface text alike. The drawing is sturdy and plainspoken, with even color and conventional proportions — which is what lets it carry a large system without calling attention to itself.
Much of its usefulness comes from that width axis, still rare outside licensed families. Mona Sans can compress for navigation, tables, and tight headlines, then open back out for running copy without any change of voice, so an entire product can be typeset from one family. Pair it with Hubot Sans when the system needs a louder display register, and lean on the weight axis for hierarchy rather than reaching for a second typeface.

It is a neo-grotesque at heart, with rounder bowls and more even stroke modulation than Druk Wide's compressed-then-stretched shapes.
- Stretch Pro → GitHub's variable grotesque carries a width axis that runs to a 125 percent wide setting, giving you a Helvetica-flavoured expanded sans directly from a CDN. It is lighter in spirit and more refined in detail than Stretch Pro, and it adds a full weight range the single-cut original lacks.
- Nimbus Sans Extended → GitHub's variable grotesque carries a width axis up to a fully wide setting, giving you an extended neo-grotesque with Helvetica-like terminals and even colour. It is a little softer and more open in the apertures, which reads friendlier than Nimbus's closed Swiss forms.
