About Michroma
Michroma is Vernon Adams's squared, extended display sans, drawn directly in the Microgramma and Eurostile lineage and available free through Google Fonts. Its letterforms are built on superellipses — rectangles with the corners eased into curves — set wide, with flat sides and a technical, mid-century-futurist bearing. There is a single weight, so the family offers no range to work with; the drawing is the whole proposition.
As a substitute for Eurostile it is about as close as Google Fonts gets, particularly for the extended look that made Eurostile a fixture of aerospace, motorsport, and science-fiction titling. Michroma reproduces those proportions and that squared geometry convincingly at size. Treat it as a branding and headline face: one weight and generous widths leave it neither flexible nor economical enough for text, but it holds a logotype or a title card well.

Michroma is a single regular weight with cleaner, more mechanical geometry, so it carries the blockbuster feel at lighter stroke weights and needs tracking rather than a bold cut for impact.
- Azonix → A wide, squared geometric sans drawn in the Eurostile and Microgramma tradition that Azonix also descends from. Its extended capitals and flat terminals give the closest match for the futuristic headline look, though it ships in one regular weight rather than Azonix's heavier bold.
- Eurostile → Designed squarely in the Microgramma/Eurostile lineage — wide, squared letterforms with superelliptical curves — and the closest thing on Google Fonts to the extended Eurostile look. Single weight, so treat it as a display and branding face.
- Insignia → An extended, squared technical sans in the Microgramma tradition that shares Insignia's engineered, slightly futuristic mood and works best in short caps-only headlines. Its wide proportions and rounded-rectangle shapes differ from Insignia's circular geometry, so it is a match for tone more than for letter structure.
- Lunchtype24 → A single-weight extended sans built from squared, wide geometric forms, matching Lunchtype24's width for logotypes and short headlines. It is stiffer and more sci-fi in flavour, with flat-sided rounds and no lighter weights, so it covers the display use but not the three-style text range.
- Stiff Staff → A wide, squared display sans in the Microgramma tradition that shares Stiff Staff's straight-edged, engineered look. It comes in only one regular weight, so it reads lighter and more spacious, but the rectangular construction and futuristic tone carry over directly into logos and titles.
- Stretch Pro → A wide, squared geometric display sans in the Microgramma and Eurostile lineage, naturally extended without needing a width axis. It is more rectangular and overtly sci-fi than Stretch Pro's Helvetica-based skeleton, but it covers the same futuristic, all-caps headline territory in a single regular weight.
- Chicago → An extended sans with squared, rectilinear letterforms that share Chicago's machined, screen-born geometry. It is much wider and lighter than Chicago, so it suits headlines and logotypes more than dense menus, but the straight-sided bowls and flat terminals land in the same visual family.
