About Marcellus
Marcellus is a flared roman by Brian J. Bonislawsky, published on Google Fonts in 2011 and drawn from Renaissance and inscriptional letterforms — classically proportioned, restrained, with a subtle stressed-stroke quality that puts it between sans and serif.
That in-between quality is exactly what brands buy Quiche Sans for, and Marcellus delivers the same classical-modern elegance at no cost. It mirrors the quiet sophistication of The Seasons's regular weight, particularly in caps-driven logos, and it carries the inscriptional bearing Optima inherits — useful as a body counterpart under Arsenal or Forum display settings. Where Cinzel commits fully to monumental capitals, Marcellus is less imposing and keeps a lowercase, which makes it the better route to Trajan Pro's bearing when a headline cannot be set entirely in caps. A quieter classical serif for work that needs poise rather than volume.
