Marcellus is also a free alternative to…
- Optima → Classical Roman serif with restrained proportions and a subtle stressed-stroke feel. Less explicitly flared than Forum, but the same inscriptional bearing Optima inherits — useful as a body counterpart when paired with Arsenal or Forum at display.
- Trajan Pro → A classical Roman serif inspired by Renaissance and inscriptional letterforms. Less monumental than Cinzel but with similar restrained classical proportions — useful for headlines that want Trajan's bearing without the all-caps commitment.
Display + body that work together
Letters that hold their nerve
The display sets the register; the body follows through. When both halves of a pair pull in the same direction, the design disappears and the words come forward.

The shape of a working week
A pairing is a relationship: one voice speaks first, the other answers, and the contrast between them sets the tone for the whole page.
