About League Spartan

League Spartan is The League of Moveable Type's revival of ATF's Spartan — America's answer to Futura — released in 2014 and now carrying a full variable weight range. It is geometric to the bone but drawn heavier than its models, with thick strokes, tight counters, and a bluntness that gives all-caps settings real mass.

That weight is why it stands as the closest free swap for Lemon Milk: punchy all-caps setting with the same poster energy, plus a variable weight axis that the original's fixed cuts never offered. Against Verlag it reads bolder-boned and more assertive, strongest in headlines and all-caps arrangements rather than quiet supporting text. Use it for posters, title cards, packaging, and identity work where the type needs to hit hard at size and hold its shape under a heavy setting.

Quiet type that does the work
The display sets the register; the body follows through. When both halves of a pair pull in the same direction, the design disappears and the words come forward.
