About Golos Text

Golos Text is a neo-grotesque drawn for body copy by Vladimir Yefimov and Yury Ostromentsky and released in 2021 through Google Fonts. It comes out of the Russian type-design school and carries that lineage in its squared, technical letterforms — but the proportions and spacing are tuned for reading rather than display. Even color, restrained detailing, and no personality asserted where personality would interfere.

Those priorities make it a convincing stand-in for DIN at smaller sizes, where DIN's stiffness starts to work against the reader. Golos Text keeps the squared, technical feel while staying comfortable across full paragraphs. It is less recognized than the usual DIN alternatives and quietly better than most of them over long-form — a sound pick for documentation, reports, and interface text that wants the DIN character without the fatigue.

Display + body that work together

Pages that earn the read
The display sets the register; the body follows through. When both halves of a pair pull in the same direction, the design disappears and the words come forward.

The shape of a working week
A pairing is a relationship: one voice speaks first, the other answers, and the contrast between them sets the tone for the whole page.
