Courier Prime

Courier Prime is Alan Dague-Greene's 2013 revival of Courier for screenplay typography, redrawn for digital-screen clarity and distributed through Google Fonts. It keeps what the format depends on — Courier's proportions, its monospaced rhythm, its slab serifs — while correcting the parts that were artifacts of typewriter mechanics and early screen rendering. Strokes carry more weight and the shapes are cleaner, so a page of dialogue holds up in a PDF and on a laptop instead of going thin and ragged.

Against Courier itself the trade is stated plainly: the typewriter spirit stays, the 1950s bitmap quirks go. For screenplays it's the natural default, since it holds the proportions the format's page conventions were built around. Beyond scripts it works wherever the typewriter reference is deliberate — code samples, editorial pull quotes, titles and credits — with rendering the original never manages on screen.
