About Comic Relief
Comic Relief is a metric-compatible replacement for Comic Sans, drawn by Jeff Davis and released on Google Fonts in 2013. It matches the original's character widths and spacing, and the letterforms track it closely — the same casual, rounded, hand-lettered shapes rather than a reinterpretation of them. Fidelity is the whole design goal: someone reading a document set in it shouldn't register that a substitution happened at all.
That makes it the true drop-in when a layout was built around Comic Sans and has to keep its shape. Line breaks, page counts, and text-box fits all survive the swap, which is what separates it from redrawn alternatives sharing the tone but not the metrics. Choose it for worksheets, handouts, and templates authored elsewhere in Comic Sans; if the design is being made fresh and only the friendly register is wanted, a cleaner redraw is the better place to start.
