Bevan

Bevan is a display-weight slab serif drawn by Vernon Adams and released on Google Fonts in 2011, built around the ball-terminal gesture that defines Clarendon's heavier cuts. It comes in one weight, and that weight is heavy — slabs thickening into the stems, terminals rounding into balls, the alphabet set at a density meant to be read across a room. Nothing in it is tuned for running text; it's a headline face with nineteenth-century theatricality drawn in.

Clarendon is the reference, though Bevan covers Clarendon's bold end specifically rather than the full family. Posters, packaging, and headlines are where it earns its keep — anywhere the job wants the wood-type authority of a Victorian playbill. What it can't do is range: with a single weight there's no lighter companion for subheads or captions, so pair it with a quieter face and let Bevan carry only the loudest line.
