Quenda

Marc Lohner designed Quenda in 2015 and published it under his own name. The family came out on MyFonts in April 2016. It is a sans-serif in six weights, from Thin to Heavy. Its rounded terminals and slight handwritten look give it the friendly, warm tone Lohner meant for advertising and branding. It is also a well-equipped family: 593 glyphs per style, many ligatures, lining, old-style and tabular figures, a slashed zero and automatic fractions. Only the Medium weight is free. These free typefaces have the same soft, rounded-terminal feel without paying for the family license.

A grammar of empty space
Body type does the heavy lifting. Get it right and the reader never thinks about it; get it wrong and they feel it before they can name what is off.

Letters that hold their nerve
The display sets the register; the body follows through. When both halves of a pair pull in the same direction, the design disappears and the words come forward.

FAQ

Common questions about Quenda alternatives

Is Quenda free?
No — Quenda is a commercial typeface from Marc Lohner. Quenda is a commercial font sold by Marc Lohner through MyFonts and Fontspring for $99 for the six-style family, but the Medium weight is offered at no cost. The closest free alternative is Nunito, available on Google Fonts.
What font is similar to Quenda?
Nunito is the closest free match. A balanced sans with rounded terminals and a full weight range from ExtraLight to Black, so it covers Quenda's Thin-to-Heavy span. It is the closest all-round match for warm branding text, but its strokes are cleaner and more mechanical, without Quenda's slight handwritten quality.
Can I use Nunito in commercial projects?
Yes — Nunito is published under a free license on Google Fonts and can be used in commercial work. Confirm the license text at the source before shipping.
