About Rokkitt
Rokkitt began as an explicit free alternative to Rockwell, started by Vernon Adams in 2011 on Google Fonts. It draws on the same geometric slab tradition and eventually gained a variable weight axis from Thin to Black, a broader range than the original ever shipped.
It sits in the Memphis and Rockwell lineage and shares Archer's rational underlying structure, though it is cooler and more mechanical: the geometry without the charm. Narrow, upright proportions and tall ascenders echo Cheltenham's distinctive vertical rhythm, strongest in the heavier weights for headline work, and the lighter cuts pick up Guardian Headline's crisp modern-Egyptian feel. Because the mechanical quality asserts itself in running text, keep it to display and subhead roles — headlines, numerals, editorial furniture — and pair it with something warmer for body copy.
