Fira Sans Condensed is the narrow cut of Fira Sans, the family Erik Spiekermann and Ralph du Carrois released in 2013 and distributed through Google Fonts. It is built around a single problem: fitting a lot of clear text into very little horizontal space. Narrowing a sans usually costs legibility, and the discipline here is in what survives the compression — counters stay open, letterforms stay individually recognizable, the rhythm holds at small sizes.
That is precisely Tahoma's defining trait, and Fira Sans Condensed is the best free match for it. Both are narrow faces that stay readable set tight and small, the quality that made Tahoma a fixture in dense interfaces and tables.
