Didact Gothic
A free alternative to Century Gothic.
About Didact Gothic
Didact Gothic is Daniel Johnson's round geometric sans, built on schoolbook letterforms and distributed free through Google Fonts. The construction is openly didactic: circular bowls, minimal modulation, and the single-storey 'a' that teaching alphabets use to keep printed letters close to the shapes children are taught to write. It ships in a single weight, which sets the terms for how it is best used.
Among free faces it is the closest match on Google Fonts for Century Gothic, sharing both the geometric skeleton and that signature single-storey 'a'. The difference is range — Century Gothic offers a set of weights, Didact Gothic offers one — so it handles body copy, wayfinding, and interface text cleanly but wants a partner face for bold headings. Choose it when the geometry is what matters and the weight range can be solved elsewhere.
