About Delius

Delius is an upright comic-style script drawn by Natalia Raices and released through Google Fonts in 2011, working the same casual territory as Comic Sans but with smoother, more even strokes. The hand behind it is deliberate rather than hurried — letterforms hold a consistent weight and rhythm that a genuinely improvised hand tends to lose. Two companion faces extend the family: Delius Swash Caps for titling and Delius Unicase for mixed-height settings.

That evenness is the whole argument for it over Comic Sans. Delius keeps the friendly, unbuttoned register that makes Comic Sans useful for children's material, informal annotation, and anything that shouldn't read as corporate, while smoothing out the stroke inconsistencies the original is mocked for. It is the same voice, more carefully drawn — worth reaching for when the tone needs to stay light but the typography shouldn't undercut it.

Letters that hold their nerve
The display sets the register; the body follows through. When both halves of a pair pull in the same direction, the design disappears and the words come forward.
