About Comforter Brush
Comforter Brush is the brush companion to Comforter, the upright script Robert Leuschke designed at his TypeSETit foundry. The project's copyright dates to 2015, and Google Fonts added the family in 2021 under the SIL Open Font License. Its letters are upright rather than slanted, and they bounce loosely around the baseline. The strokes keep the rough, textured edge of a real brush, so the face feels made by hand, not drawn as a polished calligraphic model. Character sets cover Western, Central and Vietnamese Latin.
It works best at display sizes: headlines, posters, packaging, social graphics, quote cards, product labels and anywhere a hand-painted signature look helps. It is a free stand-in for casual commercial brush scripts such as StereoType's Beyond the Mountains, which is free only for personal use and needs a paid licence for commercial work. Comforter Brush can be used commercially at no cost. Keep it to short phrases and pair it with a quiet sans for body text.

A pairing is a relationship: one voice speaks first, the other answers, and the contrast between them sets the tone for the whole page.

A grammar of empty space
Crisp, even strokes give the display its punch. Quiet serifs underneath stay readable across thousands of words — used together by editors at the kind of paper that still prints corrections.
