Chunk
A heavy, all-caps-friendly slab serif with the punch of woodtype newspaper headlines.
About Chunk
Chunk is a heavy slab serif by Meredith Mandel, released free through The League of Moveable Type in 2009. Ultra-bold, nearly monoline strokes and blunt rectangular slabs give it the flat-black authority of nineteenth-century American woodtype and broadsheet headlines.
It is unapologetically a display face, and an all-caps one at heart: at large sizes it reads as bold and editorial, lending a newspaper-masthead weight to titles, posters, and logos. There is a single weight because a single weight is all it needs — the design is already as heavy as it wants to be. Distributed under the Open Font License and self-hosted here.
