Arvo

Arvo is a geometric slab serif drawn by Anton Koovit in 2010, with unbracketed rectangular serifs and an architectural construction meant for both screen and print. The strokes are even and the bracketing minimal, though there is slightly more contrast here than in a strict monoweight slab. Bowls are near-circular and the stems hold an even weight throughout. Four cuts: roman, italic, bold, and bold italic.

That puts it very close to Rockwell — the same rigid geometry and rectangular serifs, a touch less monoweight in the drawing. Against Clarendon it goes the other way entirely, choosing clean construction where Clarendon chooses ornament, which makes it the right pick when a layout wants the slab silhouette without the editorial weight that usually comes with it. Good for headings, decks, and interface labels that should feel built rather than written.
